Do you have a specific task? We will get back to you with a recommendation.

We build test rigs. For components, assemblies and finished products, for development, quality assurance and end-of-line testing, in any industry. We design, manufacture, equip, program and commission the rig at your site.

Whether your specimen is a steel component, a valve, a seat, a cable, a package, a medical assembly or a complete device makes no difference to the process. What matters is the test task, not the product.

Test rigs we build

The range goes from a simple manual workstation with force measurement to an automated system with a test sequence and reporting.

Service life and endurance rigs
defined load spectra over high cycle counts
Fatigue and vibration rigs
for components and assemblies
Static strength testing
up to limit load or to failure
Burst and pressure rigs
vessels, lines, hoses, fittings
Leak test rigs
Function and end-of-line rigs
series production, pass/fail decision in cycle time
Assembly and joining rigs
with force-displacement monitoring
Actuation and operating force tests
switches, levers, flaps, closures
Drivetrain and torque rigs
with efficiency determination
Friction and wear rigs
Calibration and test equipment
for measuring equipment and transducers
Special rigs
when your task fits none of these boxes

The last item is the most common one. Most enquiries are about something that does not exist yet.

From specimen to test report

A test rig is only as good as its readings. That is where the difference to a pure machine builder lies: we develop and manufacture the transducers ourselves, apply strain gauges in house and run our own calibration laboratory.

If only the transducer is calibrated, force introduction, frame stiffness and electronics are left out. We calibrate the chain as installed.

That has three practical consequences. First, there are no compromises on the sensors, because a special transducer for an unusual installation is not a purchasing problem but a design task. Second, we calibrate the measuring chain as installed rather than the individual sensors, so force introduction, frame stiffness and electronics are included. Third, you still have one point of contact years later when recalibration, extension or replacement comes up; on request to ISO 17025 from our own laboratory.

Scope of supply

  • Concept and feasibility. Recording the test task, specification, estimate of effort, limits and achievable accuracy.
  • Design. CAD design, FEM calculation of the load-bearing parts and measuring elements. The stiffness of the structure feeds directly into measurement quality, which is why it is calculated.
  • Manufacturing. Frame, mounts, adapters and specimen fixtures, machining through our in-house CNC department.
  • Drive and actuation. Hydraulic, electromechanical or pneumatic, sized for force, travel, speed and cycle count.
  • Sensors and measuring technology. Force, displacement, torque, pressure, temperature, strain, acceleration.
  • Control system. PLC or PC-based measuring system, depending on the test sequence and the environment.
  • Software. Test sequence, closed-loop control, limit monitoring, recording and automated evaluation through to the finished report.
  • Safety engineering and CE conformity. Risk assessment, guarding, emergency stop concept, documentation and operating manual. As the manufacturer of the machine we take this on completely; you receive a rig you can operate without further evidence.
  • Installation, commissioning, acceptance and training at your site.
  • Service. Maintenance, recalibration, extension, spare parts.

How a project runs

1

Define the test task. You describe what is to be tested and what the result has to state. We ask where it is unclear.

2

Concept and quotation. Proposed setup, measuring concept, estimate of achievable accuracy, cost and schedule.

3

Design and release. CAD and FEM, coordination of the interfaces to your infrastructure.

4

Manufacturing and assembly. Mechanics, wiring, control system, software.

5

Pre-acceptance at our works. The rig runs before it is shipped.

6

Commissioning and acceptance. Installation, calibration, acceptance and training at your site.

7

Operation and service. Recalibration, extensions, spare parts.

Modernising an existing rig

Not every project starts on a blank sheet. Often there is a mechanically sound machine whose electronics are no longer available, whose software runs on a computer nobody wants to touch any more, or whose readings can no longer be traced.

Usually much cheaper than a new build. We also check whether the conversion triggers a new conformity assessment, and take it on if it does.

We calibrate the new measuring chain as installed again, so that the figures after the conversion are dependable.

Industries

We work across industries, among them machine and plant engineering, automotive and its suppliers, rail technology, lifting and crane technology, cable car construction, construction and its suppliers, agricultural machinery, energy technology, medical and laboratory technology, packaging and consumer goods, furniture and sports equipment, as well as research institutes and universities.

What connects these projects is not the industry but the starting point: a product has to be shown to be durable, functionally safe or standard-compliant, and the right test rig does not exist yet.

What we need for a quotation

  • What is tested: the specimen with dimensions and weight
  • What the rig is to do with it: load, movement, medium, cycles
  • The quantities to be measured and the accuracy required
  • Test specification or standard, if there is one
  • Quantity and cycle time, if testing is done in series
  • Space, available media and connections
  • Schedule

A sketch, a test specification or a photo of the existing setup is often enough for a first assessment. If you lack any of this, send what you have and we will clarify the rest in a conversation.
