Versions and options

Many load cells are available with approvals, integrated electronics or wireless transmission.

Electronics and accessories

A load cell usually needs an amplifier or a display: weighing transmitters, weighing indicators, IO-Link amplifiers and wireless transmitters. For installation we offer mounting accessories.

How to choose the right load cell

A load cell is a force transducer optimised for weighing: it converts the weight force of a load into an electrical signal. Often several load cells work together, for example under the corners of a platform or the feet of a container.

  1. ApplicationPlatform, tank, floor or crane scale? This determines the design: single-point for platforms, bending and shear beams for tanks and floor scales, compression and column cells for high loads, S-type for suspended loads.
  2. Rated loadDivide the total load of container, contents and shocks by the number of load cells, with a reserve for uneven load distribution. The limit load is given in the data sheet.
  3. InstallationWeighing modules come with load cell and mounting kit – this saves design work for silos, tanks and containers.
  4. ElectronicsAn mV/V signal needs a weighing transmitter or weighing indicator. With integrated electronics, 4–20 mA, 0–10 V or IO-Link come directly from the cell.
  5. Environment and certificatesClarify hazardous area, protection class up to IP69K, cleaning and calibration certificate before ordering.

Frequently asked questions about load cells

What is the difference between a load cell and a force transducer?

A load cell is a force transducer optimised for weighing. Force transducers generally measure tension and compression forces, for example in test benches and machines. For force measurement, you will find force transducers and force sensors here.

How many load cells do I need?

That depends on the design. Bench and platform scales often manage with one single-point load cell; containers usually stand on three or four load cells. The rated load of each cell depends on the share of the total load it carries.

Do I need a weighing transmitter?

Yes, if the load cell delivers an mV/V signal. A weighing transmitter or weighing indicator amplifies it and outputs the weight or a standard signal. Load cells with integrated electronics deliver 4–20 mA, 0–10 V or IO-Link directly. More: Choosing a weighing transmitter.

Can I order directly online, also on invoice?

Yes. Most versions can be ordered with price and delivery time directly here in the shop. Purchase on invoice is possible; you can also pay by PayPal, Klarna, credit card, EPS and other payment methods.

Do you calibrate load cells?

Yes, to ISO/IEC 17025 with a calibration certificate. More about our calibration service.
