Versions and options

Many force transducers are available with approvals, integrated electronics or for harsh environments.

Measurement electronics and calibration

Matching electronics: strain gauge amplifiers, universal amplifiers, IO-Link amplifiers, handheld devices and data loggers. On request we calibrate the force transducer to ISO/IEC 17025 with a calibration certificate (calibration service).

More on choosing: Selecting industrial force transducers and Replacing a load cell or force transducer.

How to choose the right force transducer

Force transducer, force sensor and load cell are often used for the same thing: a sensor that converts a force into an electrical signal. “Force sensor” is the umbrella term; “load cell” usually means a sensor optimised for weighing.

  1. Force directionTension, compression or both? This determines the design: S-type and rod transducers for tension and compression, button and ring designs for compression only, tension links for ropes and chains.
  2. Rated forceThe highest force that occurs, including shocks, should stay below it. Limit and breaking load are given in the data sheet.
  3. Installation spaceMiniature force transducers fit into a few millimetres; flange designs stay flat even at high forces.
  4. Output signalmV/V needs an amplifier, 4–20 mA or 0–10 V goes directly into the PLC, IO-Link delivers digital measured values and parameters.
  5. Environment and certificatesClarify hazardous area, temperature, protection class, functional safety and calibration certificate before ordering.

Frequently asked questions about force transducers

What is the difference between a force transducer and a load cell?

Both convert a force into a measurement signal. Force transducers are designed for measuring tension and compression forces, for example in test benches and machines; load cells are designed for weighing. For weighing, you will find load cells and weighing modules here.

Which rated force do I need?

The highest force in your application, including shocks, should be below the rated force. Limit and breaking load are given in the data sheet of every item.

Which output signal is the right one?

mV/V for connection to an amplifier, 4–20 mA or 0–10 V for direct connection to the PLC, IO-Link for digital communication.

Can I order directly online, also on invoice?

Yes. Most versions can be ordered with price and delivery time directly here in the shop. Purchase on invoice is possible; you can also pay by PayPal, Klarna, credit card, EPS and other payment methods.

Do you calibrate force transducers?

Yes, to ISO/IEC 17025 with a calibration certificate. More about our calibration service.
