Shear beam load cells up to 10 t rated load

Shear beam load cells do not measure the bending of the spring element but the shear stress in its cross-section. This makes the design largely insensitive to the exact point of load application and to side forces – the reason why shear beams are the standard solution in multi-cell systems.

• Rated loads from 50 kg to 10 t, covering the classic range for tank, silo and platform scales
• Versions in 17-4PH or AISI 420 stainless steel or nickel-plated AISI 4340 steel, hermetically welded
• Protection ratings IP67 and IP68, individual designs up to IP69k for high-pressure cleaning
• Accuracy class C3 to OIML R60 for legal-for-trade applications, combined error down to ≤ ±0.02 %
• Versions with ATEX and IECEx approval as well as one version with a digital IO-Link output

Matched outputs for multi-cell systems

For scales with three, four or more support points, cells with matched output signals are available. Safe load introduction with tilt and lift-off protection is handled by matching weighing modules.

Applications of shear beam load cells

Shear beam load cells are mainly found in scales for medium load ranges up to approx. 10 t. They are used in belt scales, tank scales, medium-range platform scales and filling systems. Shear beam load cells are also suitable for torque or force measurement in industrial plants. Platform scales often use several load cells connected in parallel.
