Load cells and compression load cells

Load cells and compression-only load cells measure force or load exclusively in the compression direction. They are placed under a load and do not require a tension connection – the most common solution for tank and silo weighing, weighbridges, presses, and pressing processes. Suitable for very high nominal loads up to 7.5 MN.

Designs of load cells and compression-only load cells

Options include button load cells and force transducers for low installation heights, column load cells for high loads in weighbridges and vehicle scales, force rings and ring load cells for passing through bolts, screws, and shafts, and machine foot load cells that convert an existing leveling foot into a weighing point.

Principle of operation and output signals

The sensors operate using strain gauges and provide an mV/V output signal, which can be converted to 4…20 mA, 0…10 V, IO-Link, or fieldbuses using weighing transmitters or measuring amplifiers. For harsh environments, there are versions with ATEX or IECEx approval and protection class up to IP69k. Data sheets and 3D data are available for each product; calibration according to ISO 17025 is possible upon request.
